"... I like to fish with Dave Kohlus on the ADAH-K. He always puts you on the fish, and his boat is one of the friendliest and sharpest looking vessels in Montauk."
-- Christopher Flynn, as quoted in the East Hampton Star
Captain Dave Kohlus has been fishing for striped bass, marlin, tuna, swordfish, bluefish, Atlantic cod, and sharks off the waters of Montauk for 48years -- 37 of those years as captain of the Hooker, and the last eleven years as captain of the ADAH-K.
The ADAH-K is a beautiful 48-ft. Rybovich that Dave and his wife, Ada, refurbished eleven years ago. Equipped with twin 450 horsepower Cummins Diesel engines, the boat was built for fishing, but it is luxurious enough to masquerade as a yacht. It was built in Palm Beach by the renowned Rybovich boat builders, considered to be the best builders of wood/glass hull yachts and sport fishing vessels. Welcome Aboard!
Fishing the waters off Montauk is most likely the best fishing experience you will ever have. From trolling the waters off Shagwong Point for striped bass, to going offshore for the big tuna, marlin, and sharks -- Montauk Point, at the eastern tip of Long Island, has it all.
A History of Landing the Big Ones
On his first day of fishing off Montauk on the ADAH-K, Dave helped to land a 56-pound striped bass. That was ten years ago, and there have been many charters and happy customers since that day on the ADAH-K. During thar firsr season, Dave's customers were happy with their catch of stripers -- especially since 45 of them were over 40 pounds, and two of them were over 50 pounds! Dave has been on the cover of Long Island Fisherman six times because of the record fish caught on the Hooker and ADAH-K.
